US domestic and import rebar prices were steady on Wednesday April 23, with sources reporting that lackluster demand and continued market uncertainty have kept the rebar market in a holding pattern during a sluggish spring construction season.
Fastmarkets assessed the price ofsteel reinforcing bar (rebar), fob mill USat $39 per hundredweight ($780 per short ton) on Wednesday, flat since going up by 5.41% on February 12 from $37 per cwt on February 5.

Demand in the rebar market is stable, but well below average for the normally hectic spring construction season, sources said.
Demand is steady, but slower than a regular April, a buyer said.
A second buyer attributed the tepid pace of construction season to far-ranging market hesitation surrounding ongoing tariff negotiations between the US, Mexico and Canada.
I think [that] pricing uncertainty on all products that go into building — steel, concrete, wood, glass, technology, mechanical, plumbing — is keeping demand low to build [new construction projects] now, the second buyer said.
Demand continues to be quiet, a rebar trader said. Our pipeline is not good.
