SA Recycling has continued to expand it US metals recycling portfolio, with the addition of three more yards, Fastmarkets understands. Based in Orange, California, on the US West Coast, SA Recycling has been gradually expanding across the US and purchased Volunteer Recycling & Salvage, which has one yard in Portland, Tennessee, along with Self Recycling in Georgia, which has facilities at Cartersville and Dalton, source said.
Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau operates a steel mill in Cartersville.
Both transactions closed on Friday May 30.
The acquisition gives SA Recyling 10 facilities in Tennessee and 25 in Georgia, according to the company’s website.
The website also lists 147 facilities, but a source told Fastmarkets on June 6, that the addition of the three yards brings the total to 162.
It has been less than a month since the company picked up four yards in Georgia and South Carolina.
And SA Recycling entered the US East Coast market in 2016 with the purchase of Newell Recycling.
