Steel scrap prices in major international markets generally moved up in the week to Friday March 7, with stronger sentiment from suppliers fueled by rising prices in the US market, sources said.
* Turkish mills purchase seven cargoes at slightly higher prices * US scrap market sentiment firm amid tariffs, higher steel pricing * Vietnam import scrap demand strengthened by higher steel pricing * Major Chinese mills reduce scrap buy prices * Taiwan import scrap prices poised for fall following local market drop * Indian steel scrap importers await steel import duty announcement
Turkey Turkish mills ended the working week having booked seven deep-sea ferrous scrap cargoes at slightly higher prices.
Sales were concluded from the US, UK, Europe and the Baltic Sea region this week.
Higher scrap prices into the bellwether Turkey market were mainly due to support from the strengthening steel market in the US after the recent announcement of import tariffs in the country. On the other hand, Turkey’s finished long steel market remains weak, sources said.
