LME base metals prices all higher at start of week

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were up across the board in early trading on Monday May 12, with aluminium and zinc the biggest movers. Three-month futures prices at 9am on Monday compared with Friday’s 5pm close:
* Copper: $9,563.50 per tonne, up by 1.23%
* Aluminium: $2,460 per tonne, up by 1.73%
* Nickel: $15,855 per tonne, up by 0.32%
* Zinc: $2,698 per tonne, up by 1.65%
* Lead: $1,999 per tonne, up by 0.88%
* Tin: $32,400 per tonne, up by 1.59%
Base metals stock movements in LME-registered warehouses on Monday morning:
* Total copper stocks: 190,750 tonnes (down by 1,025 tonnes)
* Total aluminium stocks: 401,525 tonnes (down by 2,025 tonnes)
* Total nickel stocks: 197,754 tonnes (up by 84 tonnes)
* Total zinc stocks: 169,850 tonnes (down by 475 tonnes)
* Total lead stocks: 251,800 tonnes (down by 1,625 tonnes)
* Total tin stocks: 2,790 tonnes (up by 85 tonnes)
The US Dollar Index was 101.66 at 9:00am on Monday; it was 100.31 at the 5pm close on Friday May 9.
